1. When and why did you decided to become a book blogger/reviewer?
YEARS AGO. Seriously. When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with books but none of my friends had the reading bug. Fed up of dragging my mum to book events/signings, I started chatting about books online! I made a tonne of friends, got lots of book recs, and I’ve never stopped babbling about books!
2. What’s your favourite/ least favourite thing about book blogging?
Favourite—getting book recs, seeing people pick up books because of your review, chatting with friends online!
Least favourite—when you’ve spent AGES working on a blog post, your computer freezes, & you lose everything. SO FRUSTRATING!
3. What inspired your blog name?
Paha. My blog name is MY name—literally Laura Noakes dot com. I chose it because I’m a writer as well as a blogger, and it just made sense to put my name to my bookish ramblings online!
4. Who are your favourite authors?
For middle grade, I LOVE Eva Ibbotson, Roald Dahl, M. G Leonard, Claire Legrand, Natalie Lloyd, Katherine Rundell, Robin Stevens, Maz Evans and Kiran Milwood-Hargrave. Oh, and J. K. Rowling of course. For YA/Adult, Leigh Bardugo, Neil Gaiman and Laini Taylor are my go to authors.
5. How big is your TBR?
Let’s put it this way. My TBR shelf once fell out of my wall and onto my head in the middle of the night. It gave me concussion. It’s pretty much never ending.
6. What are you currently reading?
Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. A forever favourite that makes me feel like I’m home.
7. What do you do when you aren’t reading or blogging?
I write books! I’m also just about to start a PhD looking at the UK’s first women lawyers. Oh, and I crochet VERY badly.
8. A silly fact about you that people don’t already know.
I wrote to Warner Bro’s asking to be cast in the Half-Blood Prince film as Romilda Vane. They wrote a LOVELY letter back saying, “urghh, no” (but politely), and I’ve still got it! Def only wanted the part to get close to Daniel Radcliffe!
And there we have it folks! The first in my new Blogger Spotlight series! I want to say a big thank you Laura for answering my questions. I seriously suggest you check her out on Twitter, Youtube and her lovely lovely blog.
Keep an eye on the blog for more Blogger Spotlight posts coming everyday this week!
Peace and pages.
