Good morning my loves!
I hope you’re all having a lovely Thursday! Today’s post is the A-Z Book Tag. I love these kinds of posts as it not only allows me to get to know my favourite bloggers better, but it also allows you to get to know me! I found the questions for this tag over on The Daring Darling, so go check out her post! And who knows, maybe you’ll find your next great read right here!
A – Author you’ve read the most books from?
Okay, this should be a surprise to no one. It had to be J.K Rowling, of course! It turns out that I’ve read 13 of her books, and that doesn’t include the ones she has written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. She is only of my all-time favourites and is one that I always go back to when I’m in a reading slump.
B – Best sequel ever?
This is a tricky one for me as there have been so many greats. I think it has to be A Gathering of Shadows by V.E Schwab. Yes, I realise that this is only the second book in the trilogy but I haven’t read the third one yet. I know. I am awful. I’d better get that sorted soon.
C – Currently reading?
Warcross by Marie Lu. This is the first book that I have read by Marie Lu but it is one that I am really enjoying. I am looking forward to reading more of her books. I am also buddy-reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt with @BookishLuna, @jkimexploring and @BookishinBed. We’re only a couple of chapters in at the time that I’m writing this but I totally intrigued. I love that the characters are mostly unlikeable folks and the writing soothes my need for the discussion of the classics (I almost studied this at university).
D – Drink of choice while reading?
There is only one correct answer for this question. Tea. Obviously.
E – E-Reader or Physical books?
I always prefer physical books although I do use my Kindle for reading books from NetGalley and for taking away on trips when I don’t have a lot of room in my luggage for books.
F – Fictional character you would have dated in High School?
Honestly, I was not the kind of girl that attracted boys in school.. But if I had to choose it would probably Neville from Harry Potter. He is so underrated. I love him.
G – Glad you gave this book a chance
With Malice by Eileen Cook. I had heard a lot about this book on booktube. It sounded interesting so I decided to pick it up. I did good. Eileen has now become one of my favourite YA thriller authors and she is such a lovely person too!
H – Hidden gem book
I suppose I have to say I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes. I read this a couple of years ago and just couldn’t put it down. I barely hear of anyone else reading it. I stumbled upon it by accident but I am so glad that I did. I wish more people had read it so that we can gush about it together.
I – Important moment in your reading life
I think Harry Potter is the big defining moment in my reading life. It was what got me really into reading and from then on I began devouring books at a rapid rate and began to cost my parents an awful lot of money and space, whoops!
J – Just finished reading…
At this current moment I have just finished reading The Refugees by Viet Thanh Nguyen. This is a collection of short stories all about the dreams and hardships of immigration. This was my Reading the World pick for Vietnam. It was really good. Keep your eyes peeled for a review coming soon.
K – Kinds of books you won’t read
I am really not a fan of romance books. I don’t mind a little bit of romance in books but I really dislike it when it the primary topic in a book. I really do stay away from these kinds of books.
L – Longest book you’ve read?
Last year the longest book I read was 870 pages. Don’t ask me about the books from previous years because I have absolutely no idea. How did we all keep track of our reading before Goodreads?!
M – Major book hangover because of…
Anything by V.E Schwab (Victoria Schwab). Her writing is so magnificent that I typically need a break after reading one of her books as I know the next one I read probably won’t be as good as any of her books…
N – Number of book cases you own?
6. But I definitely need more. I’m running out of room at a rapid speed…
O – One book you’ve read multiple times?
Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I read this book first as a child and it is one that I try to read every couple of years. It is so nostalgic for me and brings back lovely memories of reading on the grass in the summer sun as a child.
P – Preferred place to read?
I have two favourite places really, although I could read anywhere. The first is my bed. I love nothing more than climbing into bed at bedtime with a mug of Ovaltine and a great book. Especially when it is raining outside. That noise is so calming, do you think? The second is my reading room. I love being surrounded by my books, its so comforting.
Q – Quote that inspires you / gives you the “feels” ?
“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” – C.S Lewis. I think this one sums me up perfectly.
R – Reading regret?
Buying dozens of books because they were popular, despite the fact that I had no interest in the actual story.
S – Series you started, but need to finish?
I’ve mentioned this elsewhere is the tag but definitely A Darker Shade of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. Also, I still need to read Winter by Marissa Meyer. It’s the only one I haven’t read yet.
T – Three of your all-time favorite books.
How cruel to ask for just three…
# To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
# All of the Harry Potter books…..
# The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
U – Unapologetic fangirl for…
The Lunar Chronicles!
V – Very excited for this release more than any others
You can’t. You just can’t ask me to pick one. That is SO CRUEL. So I shall tell you one book I am looking forward to being released in February. That is The Hazel Wood. This was one of my favourite books of last year and I cannot wait for it to be realised on the 9th of February.
W – Worst habit?
Buying far more books that I will ever be able to read…. But don’t we all?
X- X Marks the Spot: the 27th book on your shelf?
The Power by Naomi Alderman. Another one that I have been dying to read but haven’t had the chance to pick up yet.
Y – Your latest book purchase?
My latest book purchase was three pre-orders. They are: Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann, The Changeling by Victor LaValle and City of Light, City of Poison by Holly Tucker.
Z – Zzzz snatcher:
Talking with Psychopaths and Savages: A Journey into the Evil Mind by Christopher Berry Dee. This book is only 280 pages long and it took me two weeks to read. I wish I hadn’t pushed myself to finish it and had not wasted my time…
And there we have it! The A-Z Book Tag. I would love to see you all do this one. If you do, leave me a link to your post down below!
