Good morning my dears!
What do you know, my O.W.L.S wrap-up and N.E.W.T.S TBR is late. Honestly, one day I will get better at getting things done on time and procrastinating less…. Anyway, I digress. Today’s post is my N.E.W.T.S TBR, while my O.W.L.S wrap-up will be coming soon.
The month of July was not a particularly good reading month for me, I did however manage to pass 9 O.W.L.S including; Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Divination, Herbology, The History of Magic and Muggle Studies. So in terms of which career path I took, my options were pretty open. In the end I decided to go for a journalist for the Daily Prophet. For that I need the following Charms, History of Magic, Muggle Studies and one more of my choice (I’ve gone for Ancient Runes)
In order to achieve an Outstanding in any particular subject, you must read the books in order, so for example, A (acceptable) first, followed by E (exceeded exceptions) and finally O (Outstanding)
My TBR
Charms
A – Read a book with magic in it – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K Rowling (audiobook)
E – Read a book with a cover that charmed you – Circe by Madeline Miller
0 – A book you think will leave a mark – Floored by various authors
History of Magic
A – A Book that would fit in at Hogwarts library – Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman
E – A book published at least 5 years ago – The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
O – A book at least 400 pages long – The Secret Barrister
Muggle Studies.
A – Read a book written by one of you favourite authors – Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss
E – Read a biography – I am I am I am by Maggie O’Farrell
O – Read a retelling – Slience of the Girls by Pat Barker
Ancient Runes.
A – A book set in the past – The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
E – One of the most ancient books on your shelf – Everland by Rebecca Hunt
O – A book translated from another language – A Game We Play by Simona Vinci
And there we have it! My N.E.W.T.S TBR! I would love to you if you’re taking part and would love to see what you are planning to read! To get more information on the readathon you can check out their Twitter account here.
Edit: I’ve just realised that my picture didn’t include The Secret Barrister, what a numpty!
Peace and pages

It’s brilliant! You have to complete the first one before this, but you can do it whenever you like. Definitely worth checking it out!

Oo best of luck with the readathon! I really hope you get to Circe because I read it earlier in the year and adored it – I hope you do too. I need to get to The Silent Companions soon; I bought it recently because it sounded right up my street but I haven’t managed to pick it up yet, so I’d be curious to know how you find it.
(I’m taking part too, my TBR is here if you’re interested in taking a look!)

Have you read The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller?! It is absolutely fantastic and I definitely recommend it! Circe is at the top of my list to be honest, I’ve been dying to read it for a while now!
I’ll definitely check out your TBR, thank you!

No, I haven’t read The Song of Achilles yet but when I was buying Circe the Waterstones bookseller made me PROMISE to pick it up soon because he said it was one of his favourites and I absolutely had to. So that’s two strong recommendations for it so far! I do hope you enjoy Circe as much too.

Oh it’s wonderful Emma! The bookseller at Waterstones definitely had good taste! I can’t imagine it’ll be anything but amazing, especially because The Song of Achilles was her debut!
