___ Picks My Next Read #3

Hello my loves!

Today’s post is part of a new series on my blog; ___ picks my next read. For the month of August, I asked my favourite publicist to pick one for me. Poppy picked The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O’Farrell. You can read my full review, when it goes live, here.

As for the month of September, I have asked the Tom to pick one for me. Tom is a freelance writer and also tweets out some pretty hilarious tweets. You can find him here. So what is my September book I hear you ask? Well…

Tom has picked Dune by Frank Herbert (though he has warned me to stay away from the rest of the books in the series)!

Set in the far future amidst a sprawling feudal interstellar empire where planetary dynasties are controlled by noble houses that owe an allegiance to the imperial House Corrino, Dune tells the story of young Paul Atreides (the heir apparent to Duke Leto Atreides and heir of House Atreides) as he and his family accept control of the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the ‘spice’ melange, the most important and valuable substance in the cosmos. The story explores the complex, multi-layered interactions of politics, religion, ecology, technology, and human emotion as the forces of the empire confront each other for control of Arrakis.

And there we have it! My next pick for my _____ picks my next read, series. I’ll have a new one for you next month! Keep your eyes peeled for author, book blogger, friend and booktuber which are all still to come!

Peace and pages

Such a cool thing to do!! I’ve never read Dune, though I’ve heard a lot of interesting stuff about it. I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve read Dune (the same edition as pictured here) – have to say, I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. My copy was also full of typos which was so annoying. Anyway will be interested to hear what you think 🙂
