My Favourite Books

My 2018 Favourites: Backlist Books

Happy Boxing Day my loves!

I hope you’re having a brilliant festive period so far, no matter how you celebrate (or not!). Unfortunately I will be back in work tomorrow (I know, pants or what?) and so I wanted to be at least a little cheerful here on the blog! Today’s post I am wrapping up my favourite backlist books of the year. Two of these books, The Secret History and Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance, were buddy reads with the lovely Luna, Jenna and Reg. I also buddy read The Heart’s Invisible Furies with Luna too. There’s something totally wonderful about experiencing a book with others for the first time. Both Madeline Miller and Elisa Lodato have become some of my favourite ever authors. I’d say a it’s been a bloomin’ good reading year!

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller // An Unremarkable Body by Elisa Lodato // The Hearts Invisible Furies by John Boyne // Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance by Ruth Emmie Lang // The Secret History by Donna Tartt

Have you read any of these books? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them. Let’s gush about them together! The final post in my 2018 favourites in coming on Friday, this will be an honourable mentions post where I talk about the best proofs I’ve received and read this year.

Peace and pages

  1. Happy Boxing Day! I don’t think I’ve read any of these. I have an ongoing war with one of the Donna Tartt books (either The Secret History or The Little Friend) where I am ADAMANT I have never read it, but when I read it I remember that it have and I hated it. It takes me about half the book to realise every time 😂
