Good morning my loves!
I hope you had a lovely weekend – however you spent it! I participated in the #24in48 readathon, where you aim to read for a total of 24 hours in 48. I only actually managed just over 18 hours but I did have a nap both days so….. Anyway, I digress. Today’s post is one I’ve seen doing the rounds and fancied doing myself, and that’s The Secret Life of a Book Blogger Tag. Here we go!
How long have you been a blogger?
Blogging for me actually started a long, long time ago, and it started with beauty blogging! That only lasted for about a year mind and back in August 2017 I started Tomes with Tea – I’ve never looked back!
At what point do you think you will stop?
I think I’ll stop when I don’t enjoy it anymore. Right now I am absolutely loving it and can’t see that changing anytime soon.
What is the best part?
I mean, all of it! The friends I’ve made, the brilliant books I’ve found through it. Meeting lovely authors and publishers, booksellers and publicists. For me it has turned a hobby that is inherently lonely into something that I share with loads of similarly minded people.
What is the worst part?
There really isn’t a bad part. I guess if there were things I didn’t like about it, I’d just stop doing it!
How long does it take you to find/create pictures to use?
I’m a bit sneaky really. I don’t have a lot of time to find create pictures. So I usually just use the covers for the books. I find this easy and not so time consuming. The only images I create for my blog are my featured images, for which I have a temple, so that’s really easy too.
Who’s your book crush?
I think my biggest bookish crush has and always will be Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird. His fight for justice in the face of ridicule, just makes me all warm and fuzzy. There is also a possibility that reading that book planted the thought in my mind that led me to studying law!
What author would you like to have on your blog?
Oh god, that’s such a difficult question. I think for me it would have to be Kate Mosse. She has been a hero for me since I was about 12 and have her to (mostly) thank for my voracious consumption of books. I met her at an event about a year ago and just about managed to contain myself. She also chair’s the Women’s Prize, which is one of my favourite literary prizes. She’s just so cool.
What do you wear when you write your blog?
Again, that varies. I don’t have a specific blogging get-up but I usually find myself writing posts on Sundays and so I guess I wear PJs most of the time!
How long does it take you to prepare a post?
That really does depend. It can range from anywhere between 30 minutes for posts like this one, to several hours when it comes to book reviews. Having said that, sometimes the words just flow and I can write a 2,000 word review in a matter of minutes.
How do you feel about the book blogger community/culture?
Like any community, there is good and bad. I’m so glad to say though that almost all of the people I have connected with in the community are absolutely wonderful. I feel very lucky to be a little part of it.
What do you think one should do to have a successful blog?
I actually think this is a bit of a silly question. Success means different things to different people. For me, as long as I am enjoying it, then it’s successful!
And there we have it! I would love to read your answers if you’ve done this tag, so please leave your links in the comments!
Peace and pages
